When Elwood P. Dowd begins introducing his best friend, Harvey, around town, his sister Veta decides to put an end to the embarrassment. Veta tries to commit Elwood to a sanitarium and rid herself of Harvey forever, beginning a string of hilarious events that puts everyone’s sanity into question.
